NDIS Practice Standards

The NDIS Practice Standards are the quality standards a registered NDIS provider is audited against, setting out the outcomes a provider must achieve and the indicators an auditor looks for.

How they are used

Registration and re-registration audits assess a provider against the Practice Standards that apply to the supports it is registered for. The standards are written as outcomes, each with quality indicators; the auditor asks for evidence that the outcome is met, which in practice means policies, records and staff who can describe what they do.

Categories, thresholds and timeframes are set by the regulator and change; confirm the current requirements with the regulator for your sector before acting on a real case.

What an auditor wants to see

Not a policy for every indicator, but evidence that the policy is current, that the people who need it have acknowledged it, and that it is followed. Internal audit against the standards, done before the real one, is how gaps surface on your terms.
